What a brass neck the old man has. Telling Froch to fight Groves/Cleverley instead of Hopkins. Just like Joseph Calzaghe wouldn't fight Froch.

This sport exists on a template that one tough fight allows you to dine on it for 5/6 easy ones after.
I mean, sure the journeyman and young fighters want good fighters.
But current champions? Cmon. They're happy to take easy fights/paydays before practically being pushed into a tough one.
This guy, Carl Froch?
He only wants the best fights.
Just to reiterate, this is something unique in the sport right now. No other elite champion is doing sh-t like this.

But I'll always wonder why he stuck with Warren for so long when he wasn't getting the decent fights.
Sure, he would have liked more money but it would have involved a lot more risk. Look how his career panned out - he made good money, stayed unbeaten, gets a lot of love from the British fans/media. I don't think he has much regrets about his career. He even got out of the sport early.

Papa Joe is right. Not only is Froch not special. He's quickly becoming one of the most overrated fighters in the sport. He's a good lil fighter. But from a talent, skill, and accomplishmentt standpoint, he's nowhere near elite. And from a historical standpoint, he's not reallt even relevant. Boxing fans are notorious for being prisoneers of the moment. Currently, the only fighter out there that is more overrated among boxing fans is Lucas Matthysse.
Froch not even close to beinging in Slappy's league from a skill, talent, or accomplishment standpoint. Calzage was a lot faster and quicker. He was much better defensively. And from what they accomplished, Calzage was the class of the super middleweight division for over a decade, fighting basically everyone except Sven Ottke. Froch has never been considered the best super middleweight in the world and has basically been nothing but a paper champion. And at a point when RJ had lost and Floyd hadn't quite locked down the P4P crown, Calzage had a few supporters that he was the world's #1. Froch isn't even a legitimate fringe P4P guy. There's really no comparison between the two.

Froch is fair, Ward is very good
Froch is all about the money he's nothing special. A fight with Hopkins, big deal, Hopkins suck, boring a$$ fighter. Hopkins and Froch have never fought any fast aggressive fighters with punching power.

It's funny how one can duck and dodge, fight opponents at the right times and be rated higher than a guy who took on everyone home and away only dropping one or two decisions.Last edited by Weebler I; 06-08-2013, 09:47 AM.

Calzaghe you suck also
So Calzaghe beat Hopkins, big deal. Hopkins is all about surviving the rounds, I went to Atlantic City to see Hopkins vs Dawson, and what did Hopkins do, survive, survive, survive. As for Calzaghe he beat no great fighters, good yes, not great.
