Cruiserweight Hamilton Ventura stopped Grover Young in the second round of a scheduled six round bout. Ventura (9-0-1, 9 KOs) attacked the body of Young, at times landing below the belt of Young. Referee Jack Reiss would warn Ventura twice in the second round about hitting low. Undaunted, the southpaw Young (7-10-1, 4 KOs) attempted to land lead or counter left hands to the head. Near the end of the second round, Ventura landed a counter left hook to the top of Young's head, dropping him to the canvas. Young was on the canvas, complaining of being hit in the back of the head as Reiss waved the fight over at 2:59.
