Comments Thread For: Klitschko vs. Povetkin; Drug Testing Dispute Continues

Russian businessman and Vice-President of the Professional Boxing Federation of Russia, Andrei Ryabinsky, says there are still outstanding issues in the ongoing negotiations to finalize a deal between WBO/IBO/WBA/IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51 KOs) and mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin (26-0, 18 KOs). The match has a scheduled date of October 5th in Moscow, Russia. The two sides have until June 7th to reach an agreement.

Ryabinsky is partners on the show with Russian promoter Vladimir Hryunov, who secured the rights to the card with a winning purse bid amount of $23 million dollars.

I thought whoever wins the purse bid is the one who calls the shots? Get this bs over with so we could see Povetkin finally KTFO.

Seems like Wladimir has something to hide. I never had concerns before about Wladimir and PEDs bc I didn't care, he was already a massive man but now he sounds very su****ious.

Whoever wins the purse bid has the rights to the promotion, not outside things like testing.

There's too much money on the line for either party. Just choose a 3rd party test and be done with it,

The champ calls the shots period - Champ doesn't get dictated to either, especially an established reigning champ with dozens of title defenses under his belt !

lol -- The German testing agency has the best reputation. That's what's been used. The issue is Wladimir is the real champ and the paper cham is trying to dictate terms that have never been an issue before. Also they won an outrageous purse bid for the fight to take place in russia. That combined with insisting the drug testing take place with a russian body makes it seem su****ious on Povetkins end not his. Also, this isn't the 1st time Povetkin has backed out. It might be a worry that they are going to try something to discredit wladimir and make their boy povetkin look better by paying of the russian testing agency.. and wlad has always been a massive man
