Everyone knows it's not because Papa is taking a better opportunity with Golf??!! Really Golf?? Who the hell do they think they're fooling?? Fu**in golf?? HBO a mult-million dollar company is cutting back on their Boxing budget. They lost Golden Boy and Boxing isn't driving the revenue it used to. HBO is in trouble! Look at this bullshyt card Dawson vs Stevenson?? Gamboa vs Perez?? The only star is Gamboa and he's not really even a star cuz of all his issues. They need to cut the extra fat so Papa had to go. Meanwhile Showtime has 4 commentators plus another 2 on ShoBox.

Bob is a good announcer but I like him most during special broadcasts like split sight double headers or the olympics for example. When I tune into HBO Boxing I want to hear Jim Lampley. When he's on he makes the fight sound really exciting when I replay it. Good move HBO.

There isn't a single doubt in my mind that Lampley still gives out plenty of favours in order to maintain his high salary.

I can't say I'm surprised. Papa was sounding more and more disinterested in boxing on the HBO telecasts and even during the London Olympics. I still hate to see him go though.
