Comments Thread For: Darley Perez Primed To Upset Yuriorkis Gamboa

By Jake Donovan - Darley Perez and his team knew the uphill battle awaiting them the moment contracts were signed to face prodigious Yuriorkis Gamboa. Oddsmakers didn’t waste any time in declaring the fight a mismatch; Gamboa is a 16-1 favorite to come out on top Saturday evening in Montreal, Canada.

The perception that Perez is being served up as a sacrificial lamb suits him just fine. In fact, it’s part of the motivation of why he was so eager to get Gamboa in the ring for this weekend’s bout.

“Yuriorkis Gamboa is in for the fight of his life,” Perez (28-0, 19KO) insists of Saturday’s co-feature bout, playing beneath a main event that pits light heavyweight king Chad Dawson against Adonis Stevenson. “The world will be stunned on June 8; so too will Gamboa. I warned him to prepare for me like I’ve prepared for him. I hope he’s ready because I know I am.” [Click Here To Read More]

He sounds level headed realistic and smart and he had the balls to sign that dotted line which not many are dying to do against Gamboa, it might be a tougher fight then i thought but i still think he gets smoked regardless of giving Bahama mama only loss which is impressive in my book.

That being said since Broner moved up Gamboa has no business at 135 now, at 130 and 126 there is still plenty of big name lambs to eat.

Who are we kidding? Gamboa is going to damage this kid. This is going to be worse than the Jorge Solis beating.

Gamboa would benefit tremendously from a good result in this fight. His band wagon only has a nationalists left on it at the moment.

I'm expecting a flashback to pre-layoff Gamboa in this one.

Fast as lightning, devastating power and pure excitement...here's to hoping anyway.
