DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- Unbeaten Dominican featherweight Claudio "The Matrix" Marrero (14-0, 11 KOs), ranked No. 2 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), could face Argentinean Jesus Andres Cuellar (22-1, 18 KOs) for the vacant WBA interim featherweight title sometime this coming July at a venue to be determined. Acquinity Sports promoter Henry Rivalta reports that negotiations with the Argentine team are close to being finalized.
"We are finalizing details of this fight now and discussions with Sebastian Contursi, Team Cuellar's representative, indicate that this fight can probably be made for this July," Rivalta said.
