Russian cruiserweight Igor Michalkin, 13-1, has signed a ten fight promotional deal with EC Box Promotion in Hamburg writes boxen-heute.de. Michalkinīs first fight for EC takes place in Paris on July 5 against Doudou Ngumbu, 31-4, with the WBO I/C title at stake.
Michalkin, then with Spotlight Boxing, beat Ngumbu on a close decision back in December of 2009 and then lost to Aleksyi Kuziemsky and was out of action for over a year before returning last year.
Ngumbu won the WBO I/C title with an upset win over Vyacheslav Uzelkov in Ukraine in March and fighting on the road is nothing uncommon for the Frenchman, who however lost at home Nadjib Mohammedi in a fight for the WBFed title.
