Comments Thread For: Lara: An Angulo Win Can Catapult Me To Bigger Fights

Erislandy Lara has been on the wrong end of highly controversial decisions twice in his career .

There was the highway-robbery decision loss to Paul Williams in 2011 on Showtime. Then there was the dubious technical draw with Vanes Martirosyan in 2012. But Lara says he's ready to put the hurt feelings of those losses behind him as he prepares for his third fight on premium network television when he fights Alfredo Anuglo on Showtime on Saturday at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.

“At first, obviously it’s a little frustrating, but when I go back and look at it and think about it, I know what type of world class fighter I am,” Lara said. “I know I beat them both. I just have to look forward and keep trucking.”

I don't think the Vanes result was all that controversal. I thought Lara was starting to take over the fight at the time it was stopped. But, I had no problem with the draw.

That said, Lara needs to get over the up and actually win a fight against a legit guy. He got jobbed against Williams. But Williams was coming off as devastating a KO loss as is possible. And to me, appeared to be a lil shot. But in in his other two fights against legitimate jr middleweight contenders, Lara has fought to draws. Lara is so much better than Angulo it isn't even fair. And personally, I wanna see him outclaass this guy. And at that point, it may put him in line for a fight against comebacking guys like Cotto and Trout.

Lara more irrelevant than Gamboa? Nope. He used to be, not no more.

Lara, no one wants to see your ass run along the ring up until the championship
          rounds.

I love boxing, as an art and with all it's grit. But this guy is boring.

A boring fight is a boring fight, ain't no two ways about it.

Lara is like the bus driver, taking Angulo to school.

Angulo is fun to watch but Lara is way too skilled . Lara isn't a boring fighter at all . I was at the fight when he KO'D Lil Hitman , met Lara and his people, very nice folks.
