Comments Thread For: Canelo: Forget The Head, I'm Ripping Mayweather's Body

WBA/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) is not going to make the same mistake that others have made against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26KOs). When September 14th comes around, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Canelo is not going to target the head of Mayweather and chase a knockout that never comes by trying to land a shot to the chin. Instead the 22-year-old boxer will target the body to break Mayweather down, and then place his shots upstairs.

Given Canelo's comments about Trout, I'm just going to wait and see what he comes up with on the night. He might attack the body or he might not, but this sure as hell doesn't help me make my mind up.

won't work. alvared needs a stationary target. mayweather is no stationary target. its going to be funny when alvared gets frustrated and starts going for the ko. he's going to get tired and leave himself wide open for the incoming counters.they will be fast, hard, and accurate.another boxing lesson served.

You gotta corner Floyd first before you get to his body. And that's easier said than done when Floyd doesn't wanna be cornered. Against hatton, Oscar and some guys he chose to lay on the ropes block all the body punches and slip the shots up top. But when he doesn't wanna be cornered ala Guerrero fight, well u saw exactly what he can do. No one knows what Floyd's gonna do until he gets in there and studies Canelo in the ring, and I trust once again he'll break him down and take away everything he has like he always does. Good luck Canelo

whats worse is that this guy has never been in a big fight.trout was a step up but he would'nt lets his hands go.thats why he got knocked down. mayweather brings all kinds of **** to a fight.

Easier said than done, but at least Canelo's team realizes this is the only strategy that gives him a shot at winning. Guerrero also thought he was going to mug Floyd and we know how that worked out. Canelo does have fast hands, youth on his side, and a great will to win. We'll see how that holds up over the course of the fight.
