George Groves Vs. James DeGale II is on!

Nah, I'm only kidding but I would love to see this. Eddie Heard said on iFilm London that he'd match these two up if DeGale somehow gets himself back into the spotlight. For now, it seems unlikely as Groves is on the brim for a World Title (even if I think he needs around 4 fights until he's ready - McGee would be a good one, Dirrell and Abraham). Groves has previously sparred with Dirrell but I seem to remember saying that he tried to take it easy with Groves - can't say the same now...with Groves having almost amount of fights.

Meanwhile, DeGale has had a good run of fights, fighting often although he's been showing signs of ****ing with his opponents a bit more than many people would like to see.

If these guys ever fought again, how do you pan it out, given the fact that their first fight was very close with 50% or near 50% of people having the fight for DeGale. If they switched places, where would they both be? Would DeGale be a Champion by now?

This is my second time writing this thread - something happened to my first one but I was out at that time and couldn't log back on to see what happened to it - maybe it was removed or perhaps my cell phone internet failed, hence why no thread was created.

Really good interview with Eddie Hearn on Matchroom Boxing - 80 minutes:

    Part 1:

    Part 2:
    15
    George Groves by KO/TKO
    26.67%
    4
    James DeGale by KO/TKO
    13.33%
    2
    George Groves by UD
    46.67%
    7
    James DeGale by UD
    6.67%
    1
    Draw
    6.67%
    1

    The poll is expired.

Hearn used the spotlight excuse but imo it's clear he didn't want to match them.

Anyway, I think it would be another close fight. Probably favour Groves since he has improved to a degree since then while DeGale doesn't appear to have done so.

Groves wins relatively easily, they were really well matched when they first fought and I thought Groves was going to lose (I just hoped we'd get the result we did)

But now Groves has improved and DeGale is around the same level.

I think it would be another close fight. Seems Groves has improved at a better pace since they first met. I'd go with him to win again.

You guys forget that Degale is "a whole different animal now" "ugly boy wont get past 4 rounds" "he got a shakey chin" " stand and fight me and make it exciting for the fans"
"ugly boy cant beat me if he trys to box"

I remember really wanting degale to get beat and i was so happy when groves won. But i did see a few things to take into account. Groves bruises easy and he deffo got hurt in the fight its just degale couldnt finish. Groves hasnt got the best chin. I'd say i would root for degale this time because he really should be at world level now and he is definately more talented he just slacked alot since his defeat

i think degale will work harder this time and win, i think his bigger and slicker. i am a fan of groves though, he would be an awesome middle weight but im not sure about him being a solid supermiddle.

Agreed Groves by KO if it happened, which it won't for some time,if ever. Groves is now heading to world class pool.DeGale is an average domestic U.K. type fighter only, nothing special, nowhere near top 10 at 168. Groves is about #10-14 now and climbing

I have no clue. Their first bout was very very close.

Groves has come on in leaps & bounds since then. I'm not sure I agree with the 'chinny' tag. Sometimes younger fighters get dropped through style, inexperience & balance (De La Hoya got dropped by Super-feathers but handled Trinidads power ok).

DeGale lost the first bout more than Groves won it.
