This is the TS' lack of understanding styles, when your in against a very good counter puncher, especially a significantly bigger opponent it isn't wise to commit to punches cause it could leave you vulnerable. Floyd was also very selective against Marquez when it came to throwing power punches. It's styles, even then I still say that was Mayweather's second best performance or maybe even the best since coming back. Canelo did well, he looked good in spots but entirely he kept missing.

I have not rewatched it but when I watched it I was really ****ed up on mushrooms and thus I did not understand a word the commentators said as well as I saw it in slow motion and with tracers Floyd clearly won the fight and won 8-9 rounds but most rounds were within 2-4 punches from going the other way I find it hard to call it dominating when the winning fighter is throwing 35 punches per round and not hurting the other fighter but it was a very clear win

like most said
people just dont like hearin or seein it laid out in points
but floyd dominated the rds
he took the most
canelo
tried n tried n different ways
but they all failed
floyd was indeed in control
he may not have hurt him
but we all knew he wouldnt
he def made canelo respect his punches
hence his hesitation to as most say just go for it
floyds punches were consistent
and his attack varied
while canelo searched all nite for those "big" rights
threw combos but to no avail
floyd summed it up it was a chess match
they went toe to toe with thier skills
canelos skill was completely nullified
i hear alot sayin they want rematch and this time just go for it
impose that size
now hes a margarito?
sry but reason we all thought hed b differnet was his skills he brought
if they rematch and he just goes for its even worse
the size lie was exposed with final stats
floyd 5,8 canelo 5 7 and a half

Canelo did way better than any other 23 year old with 1 good win and about 3 decent wins would, casual boxing fans built him up to be something he is not (at least not yet) and everyone on here ate it up.

I gave Canelo two rounds and even those were close. He was outclassed but wasnt embarrassed. He had a gameplan and stuck too it. He just picked the wrong one imo. He almost never landed cleanly and Floyd did with regularity.

sorry i disagree that it was even remotely close, canelo LANDED maybe 3 or 4 shots the whole 12 rounds...and even those were rolled
yeh floyd stayed out of range and ppl will argue that he doesn't engage, but this is boxing and he boxed the socks of canelo, it was beautiful

I don't even agree that Mayweather stayed out of range. For big portions of the fight, he was in range whether walking Alvarez down or staying in the pocket.
What was Alvarez' connect percentage average before this fight? Somewhere in the lower 40% numbers. In this fight it was somewhere near 18%, I think. He was regularly popped with jabs and hit with more significant power punches and only rounds he won were the ones Mayweather let him win. When someone totally imposes their style on you, affects your performances, reduces your effectiveness and lands more over 12 rounds in at least 9 rounds, what do you call it? Competitive, of course, because there was no blood or outright beatdown. Duh.

Floyd usually wins by out pointing his opponent. Don't see why this is a surprise to some of you
