The boxing world was buzzing on Wednesday night when Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Canelo Alvarez took to Twitter to announce that they will be facing each other on September 14th in Las Vegas. Now that the biggest fight of the year has come to fruition, many other fights will become finalized.
Amir Khan (28-3, 19KOs) and IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (25-1, 14KOs) had both been mentioned as possible Mayweather opponents. Mayweather himself tweeted that Alexander was the leading candidate to face him in May before he chose Robert Guerrero as his May 4th opponent. Khan recently stated that he was in negotiations to be Mayweather's next opponent.
