in terms of tangibles.
We'll see about the intangibles as he steps up in class but this kid is the total package...in the form of a southpaw. I think he's easily the best of the recent former Olympians.
Here is why I say this...
I've seen a few of his fights so far as a pro and I have yet to see a real weakness. He's fighting absolute bums right now so he's supposed to look good, but the versatility he's showing is impressive.
I've seen him knock guys out with a right hook and left upper cut. He has a stiff jab and knows how to time it. His straight left has pop too. He got power in both hands and his throws his punches with near flawless technique.
Now for the good part...
Even though he's fighting bums, and he's a southpaw, he's very defensively responsible. Chin stays tucked...left hand stays home to protect against right hand even though he uses his legs for defense a lot...good luck landing a jab on him...he even looks fairly comfortable on the inside.
As always...will be interesting to see if these things translate against tougher opponents (intangibles) but in terms of skills...this kid got some shiet. He's very balanced between being offensive and defensive minded...up there with Broner.
He fights Friday BTW
And when I say prospect...I am saying the very new class of fighters...not the Broners, GGG or Gary Russells of the world.
