It's funny for someone who is so average, he just keeps on winning or at least making a decent show of himself against A level talent.

He is unorthodox.. This much is true.. His punches look slow, yet they land.
He has deceptive reach.. He keeps his hands low yet he is not always easy to hit. When you do hit him he just walks through it.
He may not be spectacular at any one thing.. But he is good at everything and that makes him a complete fighter..He doesn't quit trying.. He adapts and improves.
It becomes apparent why he is successful.

Froch also has the mentality of a true warrior.. He talks a lot of smack but he he doesn't duck anyone including the press.. He will admit defeat and doesn't seem to make too many excuses. He backs up his words.
    He is polite and honest.

He works hard.. His work ethic helps make up for deficiencies in his style and skills.
This appeals to the common working man..
And Boxing is still a working man's sport .. At least traditionally.

The guy is a club level talent at best. I like his willingness because he "made the fight" but talent wise he's ordinary at best. Ofcourse most top ten boxers today ARE ordinary so he fits in nicely! !!!! Ray
      Are you being serious?

" .that wasn't a 'magnificent' fight or a 'spectacular' fight as the commentators kept gushing -- it was a good fight between a very good all-around fighter who showed some holes in his game (lack of effective combination punching, wild, off-balance windmill lead rights and lefts etc) vs. a once very good fighter who has slipped somewhat . . "

pretty much how i saw it too.

however, as regards froch not being "elite", i don't know . . . he is "elite" at 168lbs presently. there is only Ward above him.

i do agree that froch needs to look carefully as regards the options for his remaining fights:

no step-up to light heavy for starters. if hopkins wants to fight him so badly make old bernard come to 168. maybe ban another good payday with kessler III - if kessler even wants to fight again? another good payday domestically in showing groves that he wasn't ready for a shot? fight chavez jr when he decides to move up to 168? Ward? only in the UK and for a megapayday.

If your looking at 3 fights ; maybe Kessler III, an eventual fight with Ward (Hopkins if the Ward fight can't get made?), and finishing off with a domestic fight with Groves / Cleverly if those fights are still in demand.

Some good options out there, more will come along as time goes on and im sure he will be facing the best available opponeent as usual.

                  Ray Corso strikes again

"In my day, blah, blah, blah, fighters would fight with both hands tied behind their back & still outjab any of todays fighters. What's that noise? Damn kids. Is that a boy or a girl. You can't tell nowadays. I blame the parents."

Ray, you're my favourite miserable old man. I'm driving up to Sarasota soon to buy you a beer.
