There's about a million to 1 chance of a real Cuban amateur turning pro meaning there's about a ****ton more people per other country with the actual opportunity to be in the pro game for every single Cuban there is, the fact that anyone makes it or that most Cuban Amateurs has been successful and that one is considered top 5 p4p in this day and age is a statistical miracle or just plain old quality of the program over there.

There are only about 50 Cuban pros worldwide. Among them are Rigondeaux, Gamboa, Lara, Hernandez and Abril. Four of the five names I mentioned are, or have been, champions in their divisions, almost ten percent of the total crop. Not bad, especially when you consider that most of these guys don't have many fights as pros.
