Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez is Looking To Defend Both World Titles

Eddy Reynoso, trainer and manager of Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs), states that his fighter is not taking sides and wants to defend both of his junior middleweight world titles. The World Boxing Council, which doesn't approve of their champions holding multiple titles, would rather have Canelo dump his recently won WBA title. Canelo captured the WBA title in April with a decision win over Austin Trout in unification.

If we're going to have multiple belts they should at least be allowed to unify. Hope he is allowed to and sets a precedent for all boxers not just certain boxers (I'm looking at you WBC!)

The very last line of the WBC bylaws clearly states "all rules and regulations listed in this document will be considered null and void should the champion be deemed to be Mexican by birth."

Crazy how the pay sanctioning fees to only end up being stripped or have to vacate. A damn robbery!
