Carl Froch got his revenge with victory over Denmark's Mikkel Kessler in a unanimous points decision to retain the IBF super middleweight title in a thrilling clash at a packed 02 Arena on Saturday.

The 35-year-old Froch, who lost to Kessler in Denmark three years ago, put on a typically gutsy performance to win with a scorecard that read 115-113, 116-112 and 118-110 in favour of the Nottingham fighter to the delight of the 20,000 crowd.

Kessler may have been stunned a few times, but Froch's knees sure buckled in the 11th lol

Funny thing is that was one of the weaker shots he got hit with, it's true the punches you don't see hurt more. Kessler was almost out on his feet in the 12th.

it was a cracking fight. froch was clearly hurt in the 11th, but he came back to win the 12th.
i had froch by two rounds this fight, and froch by one round in the first scrap.
i, personally, would love to see a third fight between these two warriors.

I thought it was heading for a Jermain Taylor style KO finish in the 12th but credit to Kessler he hung in there.

Froch always assumes his opponent is hurt more than him, its important to Froch. He said the first fight took more out of kessler as well, even though Froch lost and he always talks about the punishment Kessller took in the first fight.
            Not saying Froch is wrong.

I don't actually think Carl was badly 'hurt' in the 11th. It was a temple shot that distorted his bearings for a second...Kessler tried to follow up, but Froch was back to solid and in control 5 seconds later.

There were other shots that looked much more hurtful, and I thought Kessler was getting stopped a few times, but that's what real fighters do.

Froch was on the brink of a KO defeat in round 11 if only Kessler had the energy.

Some of the shots Kessler landed would have reduced buildings to rubble but not Carl Froch who has a seriously good chin and top class conditioning / recovery! Kessler takes a great shot himself and did well to survive the 12th - looked like a last few seconds Jermain Taylor style finish was on the cards for Frochy! But The Viking Warrior hung tough!

Froch was buzzed a few times but I don't think he was ever in danger of getting stopped

Froch buckled in the 11th, if you watch his feet he actually rolled his ankle from where the shot stunned him. It was a similar shot Kessler buckled him with in the first fight around the 8th round I believe. A counter straight right that Froch didn't see coming. In fairness Kessler landed a solid 5 punch combo straight after, but Froch has an incredible chin and powers of recovery.

I think Kessler was hurt a few times, and he was uncomfortable in there. His legs didn't look as strong as they have done in the past. He looked a little past it in there, after the first few rounds I thought it was going to be a dominant win for Froch, but Kessler showed he was a true champion and didn't roll over. Good win for Froch, good performance from both, they put on another show. All in all it went as I thought it would before the fight.
