The World Boxing Council, which last year adapted the policy of not allowing their champions to hold titles from a rival sanctioning body, appears to be placing some pressure on WBC/WBA junior middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-0-1, 30KOs) to give up one of his titles.
Edison Reynoso, Director of Canelo Promotions and part of the boxer's management, denied the circulating rumors that Canelo vacated his WBC title. The rumors began when the WBA announced that Canelo would be traveling to Panama to pick up his championship. The boxer, Edison and Chepo Reynoso will travel to Panama on Tuesday to officially receive the title which Canelo captured from Austin Trout in April.
