Man, I remember Callejas really well. Great fighter, underrated....the type of fighter that would probably be a multiple time, multiple weight champion in today's multi title era when it's easy to skip and choose who you want.
It was a real pity he fought in the era he did. He had great skill and if it wasn't for that he would have been considered much greater than he is today.
I remember very well when the fight with a rampaging Jeff Fenech got made. Callejas had huge hype going into it, as did Fenech of course, and Cellajas had been knocking the ****e out of everyone and was an undefeated champion and many thought he was going to be the next coming of Gomez and were favouring him against Fenech.
It was a great and brutal fight and lived up to expectations, but that was a peak version of Fenech and nothing was going to stop him. As good as it was, Cellajas ended up taking a serious beating toward the end before getting stopped and unfortunately that more or less ended his career.
Great fight though, and as you can see against the fine Italian champion Stecca, he was a great fighter too.

A lot of times the psychological effects of a loss are more damaging thatn the physical ones!
