A former trainer of Juan Manuel Marquez, Ernesto Salgado Garcia is handling Mexican Jose Emilio Perea (22-2-0 14KO) who will battle all-action southpaw Jimrex Jaca for the vacant WBO Oriental light welterweight title at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu on Saturday.
Cebu-based Mexican Mike Lopez who helps out most of the Hispanic fighters who see action in the Philippines quoted Garcia as telling him “we know the game plan to beat Jaca. We trained hard for this fight” even as he pointed out that Jaca was never the same after he lost to Marquez by a 9th round knockout in a bloody battle for the WBO Interim featherweight title in Hidalgo, Texas on November 25, 2006.
