Weaver was a favorite of mine. Very good fight that I felt was taken from Hurcules. Dokes was the glory boy and got the favorable decision.

The first fight was stopped too quick by Joey Curtis.

I always heard of the prevailing opinion in Weaver's camp, though Dokes did have a few supporters. He was the "glory boy" so to speak.

Dokes was another guy who could have stepped it up and didn't.There were several fighters he didn't fight in his heydey either.

Dokes, who then past his prime, gave a near prime evander Holyfield all he could haddle for 10 rounds. Its a shame though. If Dokes took it more serously he could have been something!

Yeah Dokes had the goods. Great bodypuncher, good power, pretty quick hands, good chin, etc. He had Holychamp in bad shape a couple of times in their bout.

I never saw this fight [weaver/dokesII], but i'll believe marvdaves take on the fight.

thanks og. Weaver won that rematch fairly convincingly. Dokes was the obviously more skilled of the two, but after Dokes won their first bout he fell into his seedy world of ******* and booze.(sounds fun doesn't it) Dokes probably should beat Weaver everytime they ever fight, but Dokes was lazy and high in the early days. He got clean and made his respectable comeback, but it was too late to be great by then. I thought Razor had decapitated him in their bout.

as for Weaver, great heart and power. Very little chin...but still one of my favorites. My favorite Weaver fight is when old man Weaver was put in with the next Superstar Carl "The Truth" Williams on Wide World of Sports. Hercules startched him with one huge left hook while Weaver was leaning against the ropes.

one of my favorite one punch ko's...that and McCallum-Curry
