So who does Canelo Alvarez fight in September??

The weight issue must have been ironed out. I think it was pretty clear that Canelo/Cotto was plan B. With him having his own date in BK, it has to mean that Floyd/Canelo is a go.

And according to ESPN, Cotto's 9/28 date is not a PPV so its not possible that the fight will be against Canelo.

I just saw that Cotto is fighting K9 in September. Shame, I would have loved to see Canelo vs Cotto and wait another year to fight Mayweather. I don't think Canelo can beat Mayweather at this stage. I think he needs another year.

Id be extremely happy if this means Floyd-Canelo but I am not sold that this is the case. There are 2 other very realistic reasons why its not Canelo-Cotto.

One is either of them priced themselves out. We already heard that Cotto wanted 10mil for the fight (which was probably negotiations but Im sure he still wanted alot) and we already know how big Canelo's ego is.

The 2nd is Cotto is going to be with Roach and Freddie wanted an easier 1st fight for him. Something they can workout the kinks with while rebuilding his confidence and making Roach look great in the process.

no but even though Canelo fought a slick Southpaw in Trout, I still dont know if he would take the possibly very high risk/low reward fight in Lara. I think they may try to wait Floyd & Cotto out before they fight him if he were to look good vs Angulo.

Maybe even Molina. At the same time some think Lara's overrated and they may think that if he had trouble with Molina then Canelo would kill him

Lol, first off, we would have already heard from Floyd's camp if the canelo fight was in the works/being made. The weight is apparently an issue, a huge issue. Of course I'd be pleasantly surprised if the fight was made, but let's be real.

Still holding out hope for cotto-canelo.
