    BoxingScene.com recently caught up with with former featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa. The Olympic gold medalist faces hard hitting Darley Perez of Colombia on June 8th in Montreal, Canada. The fight will be televised by HBO as the co-feature to the Chad Dawson versus Adonis Stevenson fight.

    Gamboa last fought in December when he defeated Michael Farenas via unanimous decision. Although he scored two knockdowns in the fight, he was knocked down himself and appeared rusty. He said that he plans on putting on a better showing on June 8th.

                  He certainly had signs of rust last time out, which was perhaps to be expected. Hopefully we see a sharp and focused Yuri this time.

                      Obvious rust last fight.
                      I believe this is a very crucial time in his career. Hoping those years of inactivity did little harm to his abilities.

                          Can't wait to see what Yuri looks like time around. Gamboa needs to get himself on the fast-track. He's not getting any younger, and that fifteen month layoff did him no favors. Yuri's career can easily evaporate if he doesn't get it together soon.
