Comments Thread For: Bernard Hopkins: Froch Will Win and It Won't Be Close!

IBF light heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins told Sky Sports that he wants Carl Froch to beat Mikkel Kessler in their rematch this Saturday night in London. Hopkins would like to fight Froch if he wins, but first the 48-year-old champion must retain his title on July 13th against mandatory challenger Karo Murat at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Froch has always showed Hopkins a lot of respect on twitter after his fights and also claimed he beat Calzaghe so it's natural B-Hop would have some surface-level affinity towards him but I'd say that would go out of the window pretty quickly if the fight is made.

Looking at the interview with Eddie Hearn, I think we can forget a Hopkins or Ward fight next, he seems to have George Groves in the forefront of his mind.

That would be an awful match up at this stage for Froch, that would do nothing to add to his CV.

A Groves, DeGale or Cleverly match up should come after Froch has taken on the best guys first and these guys have developed or proven themselves far more.

I'd say that Brian Magee's assessment holds more weight because he has fought both guys. Hopkins has an agenda because he wants to fight Carl whereas I think Brian has ruled out the possibility of rematching either guy.

Having said that I pick Carl on points even though Brian who is best placed to pick a winner has predicted Kessler will win. He says Kessler is a bit quicker and a better boxer which I agree with but I think hometown advantage will see Carl take a decision in hard fight

Awful matchup as in you see him losing against them ? Groves isn't a bad fight as he's a young up and coming SMW who has the potential to become a champion at some point. But I definitely see Carl beating those 3 guys and I think he has bigger fish to fry too.

No mate, 'awful; as in you said, Froch has far bigger fish to fry at this stage.

Hopkins, Ward matches will seriously enhance Carl's CV and need to be next. The other 3 are fights that can happen down the line by then other guys will be more experienced and Groves and DeGale may hold a World Title too.

I understand why you would say that but i have to dis-agree.

Magee fought Froch years ago when they were both British level and Froch is a different animal now.

Plus Froch (according to Magee) told Kessler how to beat magee in their fight so hes not happy with carl either so there is a slight agenda there

Well considering I had Froch winning the first fight by a couple of points of course I think he's going to win this one.
