    Amusing contradictions in opinion...

(this wasn't meant to be a US/UK theme, but, by nature of this place I guess, it's happened that way).

    1. People talking about how they think Lennox Lewis was gay because "he had a really sissy voice, he talked like a *****"... then when you ask their favourite boxer they say 'Mike Tyson'.

    2. People who claim that Junior Witter "ran" from Zab Judah when they fought five years ago... but think Bernard Hopkins vs. Howard Eastman was a masterclass of boxing.

    3. People who slag off Hatton for being a dirty fighter... then say stuff like "he's not a patch on my favourite fighters, Bernard Hopkins and Evander Holyfield."

    4. People who slag off boxers for having a poor record of opposition (usually Calzone)... but then talk about Hopkins being HOF for beating Atwon Echols.

Hmmmmmmmm.... a bit of an unintentional Slop subtext going on there, too.

    Any more?

I can field this one. The difference is that Witter was still an up-and-comer and the fight was a critical one, for a title and all-around name recognition. And he blew his big chance.

Hopkins was just an old man looking to pad his record when he faced Eastman. So he didn't have to impress.

    1) cracks me up. 3) and 4) are debatable, but interesting points.

I can see that the Slop was more aggressive in his "run for a bit then pot shot to steal the round" way, but I'm still not getting the "Witter ran" part. I've seen the fight, he patently didn't.

No this is the greatest one of all.

People who hate Floyd Mayweather's trash-talking, but loved Ali's trash-talking, saying Ali's own was just fun and games!

Keep in mind how Ali dissed Frazier, a man who helped him out when he was banned.

I never heard someone who hates Floyd's trash-talk, but loved Ali & his trash-talk successfully argue this point.

Selling the fight, much like Mayweather does?
I mean, there's not purpose to do it unless you want to a. sell the fight or b. intimidate your opponent.

Lennox Lewis is one of my favorites all-time,Did not see the Judah/Witter fight so have no comment,Hatton is no dirtier than Hopkins or Holyfield IMO,Calzaghe has fought some note worthy guys but why does he always have to fight so close to home other than all that I suppose I am not your avg American *******.

Acceptable. If that's how everyone see's it they should just be upfront about it and say, "Ali's trash-talk makes me laugh, Floyd Mayweather's trash talk makes me say...that's just wrong."

Ali did a way better job, it was amusing and entertaining. I don't mind Mayweather's trash talking, but comparing Ali's talking and Mayweather's talking is obsurd.
