I think Cotto would have some bad moments like he did against Torres, but eventually come through with a late TKO or hang on for a UD. People focus on his vulnerability at 140 but what they often overlook is that he was a HUGE jww. He was a destructive puncher at that weight, the weight of his punches would often take over the fight. He was an all round better fighter at 47, but junior welterweights were not designed to take his punches. He was literally disfiguring fighters, and I remember him hitting Branco on the arm or shoulder and dislocating it lol.

There is always the chance he could have been KO'd because of his struggles with the weight, but for me he wins in a firefight by TKO, all round better fighter.

I agree with this, but I don't see Cotto overcoming being hurt by Mathysse. Torres and Corely had Cotto out on his feet. I see Mathysse having him out on his feet and finishing the job.

Cotto wasn't even a good 140lber. Lucas would starch him out realy quickly.

Damn this would have been a great fight, but I'm also going to have to go with Cotto. I'm sorry but Mattyse fought an older version of Judah and didn't have him quitting like Cotto did, granted it was at 147 vs 140 but still, Cotto is just naturally bigger than Lucas. It's not a triangle theory just a comparison of power as both guys have a similar style of being the aggressor, I also think Cotto is a better boxer he simply had more experience because of his amateur career. It's a tough fight for both guys, but I'm going with Cotto I just think he was the better fight at 140.

Cotto is the better boxer but Matthysse could put his lights out.
