Why was he wrong? For stopping a fight that his fighter lost every round to against a guy only using one hand... Purdy was getting a drubbing by somebody who isn't even considered a power puncher, and he couldn't even hurt Alexander with his own shots.

I don't see how there can be any question about what Barker did.

Purdy was clearly outclassed. He didn't win a round, didn't look like winning a round, didn't hurt Alexander and was getting his ass handed to him. Why take unnecessary punishment?

Barker warned Purdy for several rounds that if he doesn't improve, he'll take him out. Purdy had his chance and never stepped it up. All he did was showboat while getting hit on the face.

That fight was over as a contest. It might have been worth letting it go on if Purdy had some snap on his punches but he didn't.
