well lemme try and make it simpler for you. if a fighter wants to fight for a junior middleweight championship belt for example, he can come in at 154 or he can come in at 144. if the fight is at JMW, the LIMIT is 154, meaning you are 154 as your maximum weight. So 154, 153, 152, 151, 150 and so on and so forth is still JMW. easy, right? i dono that i would go so far as to call it logic. more like a rule, maybe, per se?

But what's ur point...are u crying because some posters are saying he weighs 3 to 8 lbs more? Yet u think those same posters are apologists because they think 20 to 24lbs is too much of a difference?

Ok I get it 3 to 8 lbs is obsurd....20 to 24 lbs is nothing.
      First things first.

      The jww limit is 154.

Secondly, Coming in at 172 isn't 20 to 24 pounds.

      Lastly, its "absurd".

      Final question...which is a decade?

That is only speculation. Unless you can confirm it.

anyhow, nobody cried when Baldomir was 16 pounds higher than him. But let it be Canelo and the tear gates burst wide open. But then again, Canelo is faster, hits harder and is all around a better fighter than Baldomir.

Can't really do that as I haven't seen any fight night weights from Floyd when he fought a JMW fight. He weighed in at 150 against Oscar, and at WW he was at 146 vs Judah and 149 against Baldomir. I'll see if I can find more...

That thing with Baldomir was kind of irrelevant because Floyd was taller and had a longer reach than Carlos. He has a longer reach than Canelo, but that's about it

He comes in around 170 now as he is filling out. The most he is going to put on is 20 lbs, so around 174. But it doesn't matter. As an intelligent poster stated on the first page, if you cut too much weight it depletes your stamina (Canelo fights in spurts) and also hurts your ability to take punches. By being dehydrated your brain does not have sufficient fluids and you cannot take shots the same. That is why guys chins get better as they move up in weight often. Regardless, Floyd needs to fight him. It's a 7 lbs. weight class difference, that's soft, and Floyd has fought there before. Plus Canelo cannot fight a full 3 minutes for 12 rounds.

Personally, we should see Floyd-??(Khan would make sense as he brings in the UK PPV buys) and Canelo-Cotto share a card in September, and then Floyd-Canelo in May. That maximizes the hype and the money.

Ok, so if you can't confirm what a fighters fight night weight is because that guy refuses to let it be known, you shouldn't say what hes peaking at. Because realistically, the guy is in his mid 30s. Hes going to pack on more weight. His ticket is, he wants to be known as this little tiny guy. If he didn't, he would just step on the scale like everyone else.

Floyd comes in around 150. It's 20 lbs, but so was SRR and Lamotta etc. Plus Canelo sacrifices advantages to cut down to 154. The bottom line is Floyd has fought at 154 and Canelo is the biggest and best fight, it needs to happen, period.
