Fight night weight is not important. That both fighters make the weight is the important thing as has been said.
All the hard work has been done by the time of the weigh in, so to concern youself too much of how much your opponent weighs fight night is insecurity and taking away at the task in hand.Comment

172 vs Trout
But what's ur point...are u crying because some posters are saying he weighs 3 to 8 lbs more? Yet u think those same posters are apologists because they think 20 to 24lbs is too much of a difference?
Ok I get it 3 to 8 lbs is obsurd....20 to 24 lbs is nothing.Comment

I am noticing that his fight night weight increases with every thread talking about Mayweather-Alvarez. It went from 165 to 180 in a couple of days.Comment

You know you could just look it up before just blabbering stuff out (at least you added you weren't sure). Canelo weighed 172 and Trout weighed 171. Sure they're big boys, but so long as they can make the weight without diuretics I don't complain.Comment

if a fighter can make weight, thats all that matters imo. its always a double edged sword. if a fighter walks around at or close to 154, he can make it with ease and be healthy and strong. if a fighter kills himself to make 154, he wont be as strong and healthy, from all the draining.
Canelo is not nearly as bad though.Comment

The thing is there are techniques and substances (legal and illegal) that helps you dehydrate quickly and then rehydrate and remain healthy and strong. Chavez Jr is the best example of that right now. He shouldn't be fighting middleweights.

though there are exception to every rule - the de****able disgrace chavez is one of those exceptions. he indeed should not be fighting middleweights, as they let him use whatever drugs he desires to make weight, and come in at around 180-185. that is a little absurd...Comment

May be why Canelo looked a little gased. It was the biggest he came in.Comment
