Sorry to break your bubble son, but you got to be on pot to think that a guy with a legitimate Ko against a top jr. welter will do the same to the 147's and 154's, Think before you talk, thats total bias ****.

Put Matthysse vs Kirkland and I bet you Kirkland KO's Lucas, not the otherway.

this. I don't care how many guys Matthysse KOs at 140, if he goes up against Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, Canelo, Bradley, etc. he's an underdog in my book. He's not proven above his current weight, and he's on the short side so he'd be at a size disadvantage against almost all WWs.

He took what I said for face value. Again, Peterson did not use his reach advantage to keep Lucas away from him, and could not fight on the inside. Floyd can do both...

We all know reach don't mean jack if you don't know how to use it...Lovci, I expected you to know that by default and not even have to post something in response like you did. Ah well, guess we differ in opinions on that regard.

His height, build and knock-out percentage reminds me of Kostya Tszyu who never moved north where he was likely vulnerable to bigger, stronger fighters. I see Matthysse as a career JWW. So many big money fights at his best weight why move north? I pick him over Garcia and Khan.

            Agreed.

Well, allow me to be a fan and say I would support the bout coming together and would HOPE Matthysse wins in such a fight, BUT....

I don't believe he's as big a puncher as people are assuming (although a VERY good puncher). Lamont's chin isn't great, it's good, but he's been hurt before and early in fights, was knocked down by Bradley (among others), who is a very good fighter, but he's no power puncher. And let's not eliminate Lamont maybe not having something extra in his system. Just sayin. Lucas doesn't rehydrate a lot so don't think he'd be some big welterweight, he wouldn't be. He's a normal sized junior welterweight. Floyd Mayweather is a normal sized welterweight. Matthysse moves up and he becomes a small welterweight, the same way when Floyd or Cotto move up they're small junior middleweights. It's basic logic. But don't get me wrong Matthysse can and would beat A LOT of these welterweights today, just most likely not the very best of the division (and yes I do hope I'm wrong about all of this).

What else, well versus Floyd he may be made to wear their choice of gloves and I think along with the weight jump, facing a bigger man, this too would reduce his punching power. Although this isn't something utterly unfair, but against an elite boxer that your most significant chance is a punchers chance it SHOULD be noted when thinking about the fight.

Matthysse was recently asked in an interview whether he's a different fighter after the Judah, Alexander fights, he responded by saying he goes for the KO now more than before. That tells me he himself doesn't believe he's gotten better like many posters have chose to say, but rather he's just committing to his shots more. Although I don't not think he could've gotten a little better, I don't believe a proportionate difference is possible nearing or in your 30s. And I do think of those fights when I think of him versus Floyd. Floyd's a better boxer than Judah and Alexander and if Judah was able to go 12 with Lucas I don't doubt Mayweather would as well. I know my line of thinking is a bit triangular, but c'mon it's Zab Judah, what do you think Floyd Mayweather's gonna do? Don't think for a second Floyd doesn't think this way himself.

I hate to be so pessimistic about a fight that I would SUPPORT, but I think we have to be realistic with ourselves, especially as fans of Lucas. It's a good, very intriguing fight. I don't think Matthysse would win. But if I'm wrong, I'll be eating my crow like it's ****ing steak.

Ideally...not that it has to happen this way because I wouldn't complain if this fight got made straight up, but ideally I think we'd all want to see Matthysse at 147 to get a better idea of how they would match-up. Matthysse-Guerrero, or even a rematch with Alexander are very intriguing fights imo.
