Comments Thread For: Roberto Marroquin Looks To Shine in June 29 Return

Featherweight contender Robert Marroquin (23-2) is looking forward to returning to the ring next month when he faces Daniel Diaz (19-5-1) of Nicaragua on UniMas' Solo Boxeo series. The fight takes place at the WinStar Casino in Thackerville, OK.

Marroquin bounced back from his September loss to WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux with a stoppage victory over Antonio Escalante this past March.

After the loss to Rigondeaux, the 5'8" Marroquin and his team decided to move up in weight. This fight is being fought at a catchweight of 128 pounds. [Click Here To Read More]

I'll like to see this guy against Mares that would be good, he is a decent fighter. But he may need to work his way up maybe against Salido or Ponce shoot even Celestino just to get some names in his résumé.

This guy is good, he looks better than Nonito vs Rigo. All the best for him.

Remember when people said that Rigo wasn't that great because he got rocked by a low level opponent named Marroquin?

I think those people need to realize that Marroquin beat Russel jr & Broner in the amateurs, you got to be some what talented to do that no matter what level, good boxer indeed.

Marroquin was a very promising prospect at one point. He hit a stumbling block in a step up fight early on but the talent is the there. He'll make noise.

Upon watching Marroquin fight Rigo, I thought he was a very solid fighter. Of course, in light of Rigondeaux-Donaire, Robert is looking even better. It's nice to see the kid get more credit nowadays.

By the looks of things the fight with rigo did more good than bad for his career, despite taking a loss. I've always liked marroquin so hopefully he'll get the fights he wants
