Canelo looking to improve his strength & conditioning possibly with Ariza or Heredia

LOL if floyd chooses not to fight on that date. More like if he's scared off the date because he only wants to fight bums hahahaEdit: According to twitter Alex Ariza confirms he will indeed work with Canelo.
Sources close to the information have informed us that unified jr. middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez is looking to make some changes to his team prior to his expected return to the ring this September. Evidently, Alvarez was not pleased with his conditioning in his last bout, a 12-round unanimous decision victory over previously undefeated Austin Trout.
"From what I was told, some of his people reached out to a couple guys; Angel [Heredia] and Alex [Ariza] I heard. I don't think either one is available though because their plates are full, but the kid is looking for help," one source commented.
Whether or not Alvarez does indeed hire a new strength and conditioning coach remains to be seen. Unfortunately for him, however, the two hottest coaches in boxing, Angel Heredia and Alex Ariza, will likely be unavailable to fill that role. Heredia will already be working with Juan Manuel Marquez as he prepares for his own September return against Timothy Bradley [a bout that might even be televised head-to-head with Canelo's return if Floyd Mayweather elects not to fight on that date]. Likewise, Alex Ariza will also be busy preparing Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for an already tentatively scheduled August return that may end up being pushed back to September as well.

Good move but I don't think his stamina is gonna improve much unless he changes his mentality. Instead of focusing on short explosive bursts, he needs to spread his punches out more evenly throughout a round, while throwing the same amount.Comment

Mackie Shillstone is the best and he's clean thats been proven. He just doesn't work with boxers anymore because of his age.ariza is quite qualified to condition a professional boxer, especially today. i think he uses PEDs, but i'm only speculating.
aside from pacquiao he's worked with khan and chavez jr. khan dropped himi for a fight against mccloskey and looked like garbage. JR makes 160 lbs by the grace of god (and he used to do it with the help of alex ariza.)
before roach allowed him to work with fighters he made him go through an unpaid apprenticeship. he's been in boxing for quite a few years now.
he's qualified enough, at least in my opinion, doc.
i think people have distanced themselves from him because he's dirty. i think they're all dirty.Comment

He pumps up plyometrics a lot but they're not proven to work much as of now. The studies they've done so far are not favorable from what I've read.I'm sure he's qualified, but's it a bit like those 8 or 9 'world champions' that were working with Heredia. When I think about similar situations in other sports, guys flocking to a particular conditioning advisor, there's something suspect about it. Fuentes and especially Michele Ferrari come to mind.
Elite athletes have a whole world of conditioning coaches to choose from, the prestige of working with top athletes is great for your career and there are lots of guys who would be just as well qualified on paper as someone like Ariza or Heredia who they could work with. When lots of different athletes seem to be heading towards particular coaches, it either says that those coaches are truly exceptional, or that they're dirty.
Ariza's association with Pacquiao did get him a lot of respect in boxing circles I'm sure, and maybe that's all there is to it. I have my doubts though. As for Heredia...Comment

HAHAHA love that line how Floyd says "where was he when i was dominating in the 90s"...Ain't nobody knew who Floyd was till the Oscar De La Hoya fight in 2007. He should be thanking De La Hoya for his exposure to mainstream. If not, he'd be stuck in underground world of boxing that just die-hard fans know himComment
