i think his terms for boxing, you must be retreating, thus you must have an actively pressuring opponent and can't engage him in a trade off, otherwise, if neither guy is pressing, i think he'd consider it a brawl, even if it is kept at long range, so i guess pacquiao oscar should be a good choice for his "boxing", which i thought it was

In a way I agree. That is why I believe Canelo needs to fight a few more to convince me and also to convince himself that he can beat Floyd. Canelo has a few good fighters at 154 that he can give it a try before taking on Floyd. Guys like Lara who is a good counter puncher with speed and Molina is an awkard fighter that would be a good experience for Canelo.

The problem now may be that Canelo can just taste the Floyd fight so I'm not sure if he would risk fighting a guy like Lara at this point in time. Canelo may take on a less riskier opponent if Floyd fight doesn't happen next.

I think showtime is trying to cash in also with two of the biggest names in boxing right now under contract with them. From a financial standpoint,it would do amazing numbers. But the product in the ring wouldn't match the hype build up.
