Comments Thread For: Scott Quigg-Yoandris Salinas WBA Title Fight Ordered

BoxingScene.com has been advised that the World Boxing Association (WBA) has ordered Scott Quigg (25-0-1, 18KOs) to face Yoandris Salinas (20-0-1, 13KOs) for the vacant WBA super bantamweight championship. The "regular" belt became vacant when Guillermo Rigondeaux defeated Nonito Donaire in a WBO/WBA unification bout last month. The two sides have until June 14 to reach a deal or a purse bid will be ordered.

I was going to ask if Rigo was stripped but I remembered the WBA has the super and regular champion BS.

If Solinas wins, I wonder if Rigo would fight him. Sometime ago one of the Cuban fighters said they wouldn't fight each other in the pro's.

    Good scrap by the way.

Looks like staying patient has worked out for Quigg & Hatton,Glad for them now is the time for Quigg to step it up.

Rumours Quigg is changing promoter, which is definitely a good thing. Hatton needs to sort his shit out.

Might be for a paper title but still a good matchup. This'll add fire to the Frampton-Quigg match which should be good if it happens

I'm only familiar with Salinas's name; I haven't seen him fight. Yoandris's record looks good, but it's built on a lot of weak opposition. Nothing new, I know....

All these Cubans are getting title shots. Barthelemy is one fight away from one himself. Rances fights, yet again, on FNF, on June 21 in an IBF title eliminator.
