Comments Thread For: Nacho Beristain Rips The Judges of McDonnell-Ceja Clash

Trainer Nacho Beristain is very upset over Julio Ceja (24-1, 22KOs) twelve round majority decision loss to Jamie McDonnell (21-2-1, 9KOs) from last Saturday night at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster. McDonnell picked up the vacant IBF bantamweight title with scores of 118-110 and 115-113. The third judge scored it 114-114.

"We knew that the English judge was going to go out there and do something like that, but the Mexican judge was afraid of losing his work [in the UK] and he allowed himself to be manipulated. I am sure that if this fight was held in any part of the world - Julio would have won," Nacho said.

I respect Nacho and I'm a fan of Ceja but the belt went to the right person on Saturday. I felt McDonnell controlled the fight and forced Ceja to move and not allow him to plant his feet. He boxed well with a tight guard catching many of Ceja's punches on his arms and coming back with fast, accurate flurries.

Shame McDonnell doesn't have power as the shots he was landing would become more apparent. I had it 115 - 113 with a few close rounds, Parris scoring it 118 - 110 is ridiculous. I could see 116 - 112 at a big push.

The 118-110 guy is the only guy who should be getting flak.... horrible card.
Even the Mexican guy seemed to be unbiased

Parris, the judge that had it 118-110 is a fraud, a very biased judge , past bouts bear this out;but Ceja lost, especially 2 many of the early rounds, he wasn't his normal aggressive self, as well as 2 many ezy bouts, left WBC 4 IBF,thinking McD was typical European style guy, whicjh he isn't , he couldn't counter the great handsopeed of McD, who was the clear winner...

I guess Nacho has never seen a fight in the UK before. The scoring for their fighters and the announcers extremely biased views makes Texas look like amateurs when it comes to bad decisions.

What a joker, the old fart should get some new glasses.

McDonnell clearly won, Ceja's game plan was embarrassing, the amount of punches he missed by a country mile were hilarious.

Ceja has got to be the slowest active boxer in all weight classes. It was unreal, it was honestly like he was on the moon he was punching that slow. Quite hilarious actually.

The 118-110 card was ridiculous but the 114-114 was unfair as well imo, so fair decision. There were a lot of close, competitive rounds but McDonnell clearly got the better of them.

This idiot should STFU because McDonnell won that fight no questions asked. 116-112 I had it.

There was some really sketchy scoring on the UK undercards that day (Choi, Hall Perales), but both main events had decent scoring, minus that POS Parris. I agree with you a draw was generous to Ceja

McDonnell won the fight. Was not impressed by Ceja. Looked smaller and slower all fight.
