Can't knock him for giving the number one contender his shot. Abner has been fighting real, dangerous opponents non stop fir years anyway. He needs a couple of soft touches.

Props and respect to Mares. A fighters favorite fighter.

I do want to point out that Rigondeaux has been calling Mares before he went to 122 and Mares recently said he would love down to 122 to fight Rigo so I'm a bit confused why he said Rigo wn't come up to 126. Hmm.....

I hope it happens, will b good fight as Robinson is slick & boxes well + deserves the shot after beating Caballaro...good for Abner to face him, would b better bout than if he faced J Gonzalez...

He's willing to go back down if the fight were to ever seriously present itself, but would prefer to stay at 126.

If he doesn't mind going down to 122, why would he even bring up Rigo not wanting to come to 126?

He added: “I wouldn’t mind fighting him, as he’s been running his mouth. But he doesn’t want to move up to 126 pounds. And…all my eyes are on who’s at featherweight.
He should have never brought up moving down to 122 for the fight or he should never bring up Rigo not wanting to come to 126. Can't have it both ways. Saying you're willing to fight someone at a certain weight and then dog him for not wanting to fight at a weight he previously said he would never fight at.

Abner has raised the bar so high on competition that there is no reason for him to fight an 18-9 fighter.
