Comments Thread For: Alexander: Purdy in The Wrong Place at The Wrong Time

IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13KOs) plans to make a statement when he takes on Lee Purdy (20-3-1, 13KOs) on Saturday night at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Purdy is a late replacement for the previous mandatory challenger Kell Brook, who withdrew with an injury. Alexander-Brook had been postponed three times. Purdy aims to make the most of his championship opportunity and Alexander is prepared to do everything in his power to stop him.

I'll be shocked if Alexander wins anything other than a feather hitting, point scoring, boring ass 12 round decision. Purdy is ****ty enough for Alexander to MAYBE look exciting against but.........I doubt it.

Hopefully he doesn't get the fight with Floyd. Let him fight Khan or Ortiz later on this year.

He better win impressively or I'm done defending this dude. The guy's last 3 opponents are 3 of the hardest hitters from 140-147. He's had one of the toughest 5 fight streaks in boxing with Kotelnik, Bradley, Matthysse, Maidana and Bailey. I understand the "win now, look good later" mentality against fighters like this.

But this is Lee Purdy. It's time to step on the gas and show the world what he's got. Perfect opportunity to get in position for a Floyd fight down the road.

Purdy is pretty rudimentary but big at the weight and has a decent punch.

            Not a terrible fight, really.

I hope Purdy pulls off a surprise KO, but Devon should win this easy enough. Might even get a rare stoppage victory.

If Devon looks even some what impressive he will get Floyd next. Book it.

I fully expect Devon to make a statement in this fight, as he should. Alexander by late stoppage is what I've got.
