Why would it???? Last I checked title fights are fought over 12 rounds and obviously you are new to Boxing or you would know MANY fights turn around after round 7, especially when one guy is used to knocking out guys early. Burns knew that...ANYONE knows that. That fight turned around TWO ROUNDS before the so-called wrist injury!Comment

Lucky would be getting a home town decision. There is nothing lucky about being better conditioned physically and stronger mentally than your opponent, which Ricky was. Gonzalez threw everything at Burns in the 7th and didn't fancy it when he took it all and fired back. Burns was coming on strong in the Championship rounds and Gonzalez wanted out.
Gonzalez is a highly skilled boxer. I was very impressed. In fact we've never seen skills anywhere near that from Broner. Being outclassed doesn't mean **** after 7 rounds, it's about who is still standing at the end. As Ali said, the will must be stronger than the skill.Comment

This fight only proves that Ricky is a bum and cannot compete at the top level. No way in hell he would have beat Vazquez or broner. They would dance circles around him, burns better stick to fighting euro bums because that's all he is going to beatComment

Really pisses me off when these keyboard warriors call pro boxers, bums,be it a journeyman,a novice or a world champion, setting foot in the ring takes courage,to call a man a bum who does is poor, reflects on the person saying it really.
My opinion is that Gonzalez looked very good, hard to hit, powerful yet showed inexperience in punching himself out and appears not to have that certain quality what makes a champ.ie never give up attitude, leave it all in the ring.Comment

WBO world lightweight champion Ricky Burns believes he was starting to get on top of Jose Gonzalez at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on Saturday night before the Puerto Rican dramatically quit on his stool before the start of the 10th round.
Gonzalez, the 29-year-old mandatory challenger, showed why he arrived in Scotland unbeaten in 22 fights as he took the bout to the home favourite.
Burns was three rounds down on all three judges' scorecards when the contest sensationally came to end as Gonzalez quit due to a wrist injury.
Asked if he relieved at the outcome, the Scot said: "Not at all. I felt that he was starting to tire.

I was routing for Burns all the way but truth be it he was very lucky .I posted on ESB Gonzalez could be dangerous and got laughed at .I said undefeated Purto Rican look at the Burns Rocky upset . Hat off to Chelo if that fight was in Puerto Rico I don't think he'd have quit and would have been world champ .
Hope to see more of him in the future .I was comparing his record to Gary Russell jr and knew he had natural athleeticism and the tools to go on and be an elite fighter ( he shouldt have quit )
