Comments Thread For: Darchinyan Wins Shootout, In Line for Rigondeaux

By Cliff Rold - Nearing the end of a career that may end with a trip to the International Boxing Hall of Fame, 37-year old former two-division champion Vic Darchinyan (39-5-1, 28 KO) of Vanadzor, Armenia, got a game challenge in what appeared a tune-up and scored his first knockout since 2009, dropping 29-year old Javier Gallo (18-7-1, 10 KO) of Bueno Park, California, three times in a wild second round before lowering the boom for a fourth round stoppage win Saturday night at the Uni-Trade Stadium in Laredo, Texas.

Darchinyan, making his second career start as a Jr. Featherweight after consecutive title fight losses to Anselmo Moreno and Shinsuke Yamanaka at Bantamweight, came into the bout a pound and a half over the division limit at 123 ½. Gallo weighed in at 123 ¼. The referee was Mark Calo-Oy. [Click Here To Read More]

Now the question is, will Rigo KO him or give him a 12 period lesson?

You though Moreno gave him a boxing lesson, just wait to see what Rigo does to him. More technique and considerably more power. Ouch.

Vic will give it all he got but will be swinging at air quite a bit.

I just realized his initials are the same initials as venereal disease.

Good to see Vic back on the winning side of the ledger.

          Rigo?

That's the real question ^^^^ can he manage to loose 120-108 or does he get ko before the end.

That would be a solid fight for Rigo. Vic impressed me against Del Valle.

He has no chance in this fight, but he's a good fighter to add to your resume.

He should avoid Rigo for now. He needs two more tune-up fights before he can even consider Rigondeaux.

Even after 100 tuneups Vic would not be ready for Rigondeaux

Darchinyan isn't exactly a spring chicken. He is 37. It's probably this year, or never.
