Marquez speaks from the heart and people get upset. Its just his personal opinion so please get over it. How can you not respect him for being honest. Marquez has always been a pretty honorable person in boxing. Its funny because if Marquez said "Canelo would destroy Floyd" then people would be praising Marquez like no other. I respect his word more then some hate filled keyboard warrior.

Had an opportunity to fight Cotto/Margarito/Williams in their prime and chose to retire.

Never challenged himself against Pacquiao, and now appears to be wanting Canelo to drain himself before fighting him.

If he didn't retire it would have been a DLH rematch, no fighter would choose those 3 when there was much bigger fights available.

Scratch that, too many Kobe haters here. Lets try this...

If Lebro....nevermind, hes 1-2 in the finals...

If Kareem or Bill Russell won their....nevermind, this is the ESPN era we're dealing with...

If Michael Jordan won his 6 titles against NBAD players, would he be considered as great?
Is he trying to say that mayweather's resume isn't impressive or warrants him being regarded as an all time great?? Floyd's last 9 opponents--Guerrero was an interim titlist which makes him the wbc's no 1 ranked challenger. Cotto was the wba 154 champ at the time and future hof'er. Ortiz was wbc 147 champ at the time. Mosely was coming off an impressive win over margarito and future hof'er. Marquez is still going strong and future hof'er. Hatton was undefeated and a champ at 140..Possible future hof'er. De la Hoya-former cash cow and future hof'er. Baldomir was the wbc & ring mag champ at 147 when they fought. Judah was ibf/ibo champ at 147 when they fought and possible future hof'er. Certain fights dont happen at diff times for various reasons and its not always the fighter's doing...Esp when rival promoters, advisors, millions of dollars & greed is involved. The only name worth mentioning who's not on that recent list is pacquiauo and they were BOTH responsible along w/ top rank & golden boy for that fight not taking place. Lets keep it 100 though, seeing as how pac has had problems w/ the likes of marquez who just ko'd him & bradley who performed well enough to even get a controversial decision. Do you reeeeaally think manny could beat the best pure boxer of this decade when its obvious he has problems with fighters who can counter, move and match his speed?? Mayweather unjustifiably gets a bad rap b/c no one can deny his skill set and that's the most important factor...PERFORMANCE. Who else was he going to fight in may at 147? Pac wouldnt have been available. You had all the posts from folks talking about what guerrero was going to do to floyd until he got handled easily then it became "Guererro was a B/C level fighter". Just like MJ made other nba professionals look like D leaguers..Mayweather just did that to a guy who was coming off of wins over 2 top ten ww's.

Floyd wants Canelo at 147... Even playing field huh?
Better chance, yes. Can he win, no. It won't even be competitive at this point. If Canelo is good enough to face Floyd, what's the rush. Floyd has five fights left in him. Canelo can fight 3-4 fights against good competition, which he hasn't yet, then still face Floyd. If he is ready to face Floyd now, (which he is no where close IMO) he should have no problem winning a couple more fights against other fighters who are not on Floyd's level, which no one is, in preparation for a showdown. Really, that's the only chance he has.

I agree. I actually thought he lost against Trout. Point is, he may gave offense, (not enough tho IMO since he couldn't put Mosley away), but he doesn't have good enough DEFENSE to avoid all of the counters and overhand rights Floyd throws. Every fighter is accused of gassing out when really they stop throwing cuz they are eating too many counters and the same goes if this fight ever happens.

I don't understand. Are you saying he had to retire to avoid the DLH rematch? That he had no choice but to rematch DLH?
Anyways he could have said no to the DLH. Instead he retired for 18 months, allowed Cotto/Margarito and anyone who was a threat all to lose and then he decided to come back.
When he did come back he never made the fight everyone wanted to see. Pacquiao in his prime.

The only guy today that can compete with mayweather is Erislandy Lara, I think Lara will KO Canelo and will give Mayweather a hard night.
