Except that's a bad theory and not a fact. You think it was disingenous because it fits the narrative, without a shred of proof.

Most Golovkin fans [as well as his team] have said and made multiple threads that Danny Jacobs is a very serious opponent, and that's exactly what he showed himself to be. Everything they said was shown to be true.

It's actualy the guys who hate Golovkin that labeled Jacobs "another tomato can with a glass chin" that haven't made a peep, and instead switched their tune to "haha told you Golovkin is overhyped look what happened when he fought his first good opponent".

Of course it was disingenuous, it is a defense mechanism. If you talk non-stop about how good the opponent is, you have two possible outcomes 1) Your fighter loses, in which case instead of your fighter being exposed he just lost to an underestimated opponent or 2) Your fighter wins, in which case dam can you believe the quality of opponent he was able to beat?

When the reality is that GGG was favored to win substantially. In the bookies, GGG held firm in the territory of 8/1 from the time the fight was signed until fight night. In NSB Pick 'Em, 85% of over 150 picks were made on GGG and 95% of those picks for GGG were by KO (most of them by mid rounds). Where people put their money and what they picked when their standings in pick em were on the line speak louder than the cheap free words they used to build a defense for themselves for when the fight ends.

Sorry bud, I still have to disagree with you. The odds will continue being in Golovkin's favor until he has a close fight, it happens to all fighters. When the Canelo fight was discussed and the bookies came up with prelim odds, they were something like 6-1 as well, which is crazy.

This board has a huge tendency to underrate opponents of guys who are 'overhyped'. Just read what people (of all fanbases) say. Everyone Golovkin fought is a tomato can, a bum, a D- fighter, which is all bull****.
Wilder is another one whose resume gets destroyed on NSB, and his resume is damn solid, full of Top10-Top20 contenders.

So yeah, fans of the fanbases will talk up the opposition, but they're much closer to the truth than the haters who just label everyone a bum.

Jacobs is a damn good fighter, a loss 7 years ago doesn't make the fighter, just like Lemieux' losses when he was 22 do not define him either.

Some good points to be considered here. I suppose if you consider Wilder's resume to be damn good I can see why you'd think Jacobs is a dam good fighter.

Though I realize that not all 3G fans (such as yourself) are as unreasonably inconsistent / disingenuous as that.

                  My apologies Mak and Beer

whichever way you shape it, i was right. i changed my opinion after watching more tapes of jacobs and looks like i was correct, he was a legitimate threat and wasnt far from winning. im happy grubers got it as his sig cause it shows i know what im on about, there wasnt many people apart from me saying jacobs could win.
