If it's someone from 140, I don't see why it wouldn't be Peterson or Matthyse. That's a top fight and better anything Devon or Khan would have done recently. Garcia makes for a fun promotion but he doesn't have enough to fall back on once Floyd gets his number - he's still learning and that Judah fight taught him a lot.

Lamont has been around for a while now - people may not follow his career every fight, but his name is familiar among most boxing and even some casual fans. That is a good fight to be made if he wins imo...

and for Matthyse, he is a fan favorite and has improved over the past 2 yrs. If he can get a KO or win in a FOTY, I think he could he would have a chance to get the fight. I say by KO because if he were to do that, I doubt Garcia fights him...so he will be without an opponent. If he sc****s by Lamont looking ordinary then maybe Danny makes that one.

For that fight to happen Garcia would have to leave the 140 pound tournament without fighting the Peterson-Matthysse winner or Khan. I am sure he would do that if he were offered a big money fight with Mayweather. I don't think Mayweather cares what the fans think of his opponents as long as he is well paid. His deal with Showtime means he gets well paid no matter who he fights. I think Floyd will turn down a fight with Canelo and fight either Garcia, Alexander or Khan in September.

I was skeptical about it happening this year with September not being all that far away and I am sure they want that to be at the very least the biggest fight since Floyd-Oscar revenue wise so if that was their goal I figured they would just wait a year and let it build.

However that is where all the smoke currently is coming from.
