He's insinuating that Bob Arum started the rumour. He more than likely believes it is Bob Arum's attempt to diminish Mayweather's selling power, so that he can gain leverage if they're to negotiate. Schaffer mentions bringing in an independent party so that they can objectively look at the selling power of both fighters, when determining how the pie should be split.

Very impressive numbers considering there was hardly any buzz and Floyd wasn't involved in the promoting. This goes to show Mayweather can sell with anyone, which should have already been established.

there was definitely buzz. It's like I said before, pacquiao-clottey did 700k with 1 episode of "road to..." Floyd's a bigger draw. Factor in the 4 episodes of access, all the coverage Floyd's new deal got and the CBS special, fighting on cinco de mayo weekend, it could do over a mill...it could've also done less...but it was too early to report so. I don't know where Fat Dan got his info, but it looks like we'll get the numbers in by the end of the week.

edit: not that I really care about the numbers. they're just something a certain group of fans like to use for their arguments and such.

This is what I don't understand. If it did as well as he's saying it did, why is he so mad? Let's see if showtime officially releases the numbers and not shaefer like he did with Floyd/Ortiz. He claimed that fight did 1.25 mil but hbo refused to do an official announcement of what the fight did.

Forbes reported that Floyd made 40 mil for his fight with Ortiz and 45 mill for his fight with Cotto so that 1.25 mil ppv buys claim for the Ortiz fight is likely true.

Unless Floyd fights Canelo his next PPV will bomb.. All I kept hearing at work from anyone who saw the fight was that it was a $70 sparring session. Schaefer needs to stfu already, his b*tchy little tantrums are getting old.
