well I still think the best time for the fight is May. No one is going to convince me otherwise on that. This is not Floyd-Pac, both in there primes fighting and experinced.

Right now I think it would be good for Floyd to have one more fight to get all the way back after all the long layoffs, switching trainers again, and changing back to his former style. At the same time I think the fight is a ton bigger if Canelo is coming off a Cotto win.

Beating Trout & Cotto back to back is huge. Then factor in the time. Its not a ton of time between now & September but between Septermber & May its perfect to build that PPV. I think the fight is huge now but is massive in May. Massive

I don't think it will. Oscar and Tyson had losses and still became PPV megastars.

Beating Cotto right now is not huge. Cotto lost 2 fights in a row and Canelo already beat one of the guys that beat him. The only thing Canelo/Cotto does right now is probably introduce Canelo to his 1st ppv.

and that is huge, no? You can also never go wrong with Mexico vs PR. Cotto lost his last 2 fights but its not like they were bums. He fought the #1 guy in the sport, and a guy who you are very high on. Alot of people think both fights were close as do alot of people think Canelo-Trout was close. Cotto is not at the point where is some name and a gate keeper. There is no shame in losing to Floyd & Trout.

Boxing would not take a blow if Cotto was to beat Canelo. I'm sure it would be an exciting fight and Mexicans vs Puerto Ricans are always huge at that level. It could possibly end up being a trilogy and a classic one at that. Then, the winner gets Floyd. That would be huge for boxing. I'm one of the few who thinks Cotto is still prime. He only has 2 losses in my book and that's against Floyd and Trout. Both had styles that were not good for him. Canelo will be right there to hit and we would see the best Cotto. I think Cotto has the style and experience to beat him.

Everyone needs to take the Keith Thurman approach.

Would be a great story in itself. Not a blow at all.

Would be good for boxing because it would set up a rematch and maybe a trilogy between those two.. Canelo losing at this stage of his career does nothing in the long-term, he's only 22, probably keep going for another 10 - 15 years or so.

Not sure about that but he definitely has the attraction to sell his fights.

It's hard to picture Canelo losing to Cotto though since would Canelo be the biggest puncher Cotto has faced?
He's definitely up there with one of the biggest punchers he'd ever face and beating Cotto puts Canelo right on track to building a even bigger name.
I'd rather see Lara/Angulo against Canelo If he can't get Mayweather.
Well Cotto fought Floyd already, he should be just fine...

                    Lol.
