Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Dares Martin Murray To Fight, WBC Title on 8/3

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1, 32KOs) has pushed back his return to August 3rd in Mexico City. The slated opponent is Brian Vera, but the Mexican boxer would like to face someone he believes is tougher. Chavez would like to go against England's Martin Murray (25-1-1, 11KOs), who lost a very close twelve round decision to WBC champion Sergio Martinez last month.

i'm pretty sure mexico is probably the easiest place for chavez to dodge testing or pay the commission off if he did indeed test positive for something (not saying he has or will).

Murray said at the weekend he's willing to travel to Mexico.

Chavez wants this fight at 165 - why doesn't he just fight Froch?

in the article, chavez said he wants to fight murray for an interim wbc title. chavez can't win a MW interim title unless he makes 160 on the scales. i think he's planning to fight at 160, not 165.

He didn't seem to care about being robbed, I think he just wants to fight the best and get paid.

Chavez would come in the ring high weighing 195 pounds in Mexico. Injected to the gills with deer antler juice.

I don't think Murray is allowed into the US. He's been in prison a couple of times and his last meeting with Chavez in Texas was called off due to Visa issues.
