He's exciting but gets hit too much even by the one handed de Leon i guess thats what makes him exciting.

I still like Mares chances against Rigo and Donaire. He is still the only one out there that can fight evenly with these guys.

He fought a high level of competition but he doesn't have a dominant performance against Vic Perez and the first Agbeko fight that has been keeping him out of the rankings.

The Moreno fight said a lot about him adjusting his fight game to win

not a fan of his constant fouling..and i still think he's tailor made for guys like rigo and donaire. but cong**** on his ponce win..i had a feeling he could beat ponce if he fought smart rather than charging iin head first (like he did against moreno)..all ponce really has is his power anyways.

time to give the kid his props, hes one of todays best and most exciting fighters. Hes versatile, quick, and has power. He looks to have grown exceptionally well at 126. If you can't recognize, you're simply not appreciative of someone who is putting in the effort and work of a great fighter.
tell Schaefer to offer Rigondo $3 mil to fight mares, I bet you he won't

I've only picked against him once (Moreno), and I was pretty impressed with his performance. He showed more than I thought he had, and I'll only pick against him again if he fights Rigo. That fight probably won't happen anyway, so it's all good.

Mares ain't "tailor made" for anybody. Folks wanna push this story about him growing into a different fighter against Ponce down our throats but the reality is Mares has always been more complete than we have given him credit for.

In each of his last 6 fights he's been forced to make adjustments and he has done so effectively. I don't see him beating Rigo but i still agree based off merit and resume he is a p4p talent.

IMO Rigo would win by KO within in 6 rounds
Right. Well, I didn't say he'd beat him. I'd still favor Rigo comfortably. I'm just giving Mares little more of a chance, and against Donaire, who I'd also favor in that fight.
