Boxing should get rid of all the division below 126lbs

This thread is ridiculous, Ivan Calderon gave us some great fights at his weight class. He's 5 ft tall for crying out loud. Where did you get the stat that most of the deaths come below 126? Doing a search on boxing deaths I looked at all the weights (the majority of deaths came before there were stand by ambulances, bigger gloves and 12 rounds fights)

Because the big accidents that come out in my mind and the history books are Duk Koo Kim (135), Benny Parent (147), Aguillon (126), Pedro Alcázar (115), Sonny Banks (Heavyweight), Jimmy Doyle (147), Davey Moore (126), Choi (108), Murray (118), Karlo Maquinto (112), Cleaveland Denny (135), Bowen (135), Frankie Camobell (Heavyweight), Carver (168), Garcia, (126), Leavander Johnson (135), Alexander McKay (Heavyweight), Charlie Mohr (160), Nazareth (147), Montantes (160), Greg Page (heavyweight), Kevin Payne (147), Henri Piet (135).

There are four more additional fighters who died under the limit of 126.

So Boxers that died at weights 126 and above = 19
Boxers that died weighing below 126 = 9

There are 4 lightweights on that list, you don't hear my outcries for banning lightweights because it's the division that is causing the most deaths.

I guess I should tell the 5'1 108lb fighter in my gym he should quit. Either that or make 126....lol

I often think they should fade a few weight classes out.
say get rid of 106, 108 and just start at flyweight. I would love boxing to go back to the 8 original weights.

Same here just keep it at 112 and than go to 126.

They got way to many tiny weight divisions. Why were they even made? Maybe cause they had jockeys boxing as well back in those days?

People getting mad need to relax if you loved the sport you would agree it should go back to the original weight classes, and get rid of the majority of lower weights, most of the deaths and brain injuries have come there.

I absolutely disagree. Some grown men and very skilled fighters are that small and they don't drain themselves to fight at that weight. If you are a great fighter that weighs 105pounds in top shape it's not fair to ask you to fight a 126 pounder in top shape. There may be very few men this small in the USA but the Orient has lots of men this small naturally. If a fighter drains himself to fight at too low of weight that is his fault. You should not make rules to protect ****** fighters from themselves and thereby hurt other fighters that belong at that weight. You can't stop fighters from draining themselves with rules. Dawson apparently drained himself and he fights a long way above 126.
