I don't think beating Ponce De Leon makes you top #5. I had him in my top #10 already at the #7 spot behind Rigondeaux but ahead of Froch + Donaire, I think that's where he'll stay, until he fights/beats a Mikey Garcia type.

I saw him as top 10 anyway so he's still there for me. Would have loved to see that fight go a few more rounds though. Mares was starting to wear down and PDL was still throwing plenty of heat and landing it. I think those last three rounds could have been epic.

        He's in there now, yes.

I did think Ponce was starting to win rounds and push him around a little, so that right hand was much needed.

Yes he should be ahead of Broner and Froch.
He also has a better record than both.

            I agree.

He should be ahead of Broner and Donaire for sure.

Broner shouldn't be in anybody's top ten P4P list.

No way he's ahead of Donaire. Donaire beats him 10 out of 10 times. I would put him at #10 P4P though after this last win

I've only been watching Mares since Agbeko 1, and he just knows how to win. I think he's gonna hit his weight ceiling soon, but he has the versatility and toughness to be a headache for many. He showed some JMM counter-punching last night and ****** on the inside when he felt it was necessary.
