2 part question regarding title belts/ champions.

Does anyone know which governing body was around first or at least what the real belt in each division was called? And out of all of the p4p elite of the last 10 years who holds or held the most LINEAL titles?

WBA was around in 1920 but under a different name (NBA for National Boxing Association ). In the 60s they changed their name to WBA and in the 70s moved their headquarters to Latin America (Panama then elsewhere ).

The NBA was the long time governing body in the USA. This eventually went onto be the WBA. Before that, it was usually just concensus and not really the same as what you see today.

The WBC was a split from the WBA so you could argue they can trace their roots from the NBA too

The same can be argued for the IBF - Bob Lee formed the IBF after losing his bid for presidency of the WBA.

Honestly, you can argue many of todays "World titles" are just national belts - WBC for Mexico, IBF heavily favouring USA and SA for some reason, WBO for PR and WBA for Panama for anyone willing to pay - the bias there isn't even attempted to be hidden

As for the Lineal titles, it's hard as there was a period where the RING title and Lineal were often blurred. Nowadays, the RING title means nothing and so Lineal championships are easy to map out. I know Manny Pacquiao has been Lineal champ in a few of his divisions, though can't say for certain
