    Mike Perez is back

Was wondering what happened to this guy cause he aint fought in 2 years. I remember seeing him win prizefighter and immediately declaring he was a future world champ, just seen that he returns against Travis Walker on Saturday on the Klitschko undercard. I wonder if hes being lined up for Wladimir if he gets the win?

Mike Perez is a talented young heavyweight who (sadly) has been poorly managed (like Bogdan Dinu and Denis Boytsov have).

I wonder if he's signed with K-2 or with Pianeta's promoter?

From what I remember Perez was part of a trio of Cuban super-amateurs that Gary Hyde helped to defect to Ireland. We know how much Gary Hyde is a low-rent Don King, and all three of them have had activity problems. I was highest on Alexei Collado Acosta, he's thankfully jumped ship now. Perez needs to stay in shape otherwise his career won't come off; I remember hearing stories of him drinking a shi.tload of rum before his last Cuban national final and losing. Will be interested to see where he is but not expecting much.
